Sarah has been a friend of mine since uni. We were placed in the same halls of residence back in 2006 and have stayed in touch ever since. It’s always fun to be reunited with the uni girls (and guy), but last week was even better as were all together to celebrate Sarah’s wedding.
I was over the moon to be asked to do the makeup and manicures for the wedding day. It’s always an honour to help a bride get ready, but there’s something extra special about helping a friend. The theme was purple and blue (with a nod to Lord of the Rings) so we incorporated a touch of purple into the look. Sarah isn’t a girl who wears neutrals, so I was keen for her to show off her style and love of colour.
The night before the wedding we had a pamper party. The bridesmaids had a sparkly french manicure and the bride opted for a purple manicure with silver nail art.
The next morning we started makeup at about eight. The bridesmaids had a really fresh makeup look, with an emphasis on great-looking skin. I used the Make Up Forever HD Foundation, which is my favourite base for bridal parties. To give them a stay-all-day healthy glow I used a combination of Benefit Hervana and MAC Lightscapade.
For Sarah we did a hazy purple eye look with soft pink cheeks and lips. The lipstick was MAC syrup, which is a ‘your lips but better’ pink with a lustre finish.
Congratulations Sarah and Tom! Thank you for inviting me to be part of your special day.
